I've been asked this question all the time, and I can't figure it out, why?
(Actually, I have drawn many boys, but probably no one noticed.)
Trying to analyze deeply, finally found the truth.
The answer is very simple.
"Because I especially like girls with a certain look!"
This is an art collection of how Men Xiaolei became "Men Xiaolei". She is a very representative illustrator and cartoonist in Hong Kong in recent years. She has readers from all over the world and has nearly 700,000 followers on Instagram. In 2019, Japan's Xuanguangsha published a selection of "SISTERHOOD" works for her, which is like a review of her creative journey, including the creative process since her debut in 2006 to 2019, including hundreds of illustrations and 4 unpublished short stories comics.
In Men Xiaolei's works, "female" has always been a very distinct theme. The women in her works have their own charms, especially the delicate emotions between the eyes and eyebrows, as if they are speaking to the readers. Most of Men Xiaolei’s readers were from Hong Kong at first. About 3 years ago, after she uploaded a documentary video of herself painting girls, the number of IG followers exploded. Most of them were women aged 20 to 40. The country with the most followers was the United States, followed by Japan.
